My "magic" number is 8 also. Drexel and Loyola have been stringing me along too. UIC & Rush (c'mon, get behind your hometown boy!!), Creighton, MCO, Wright State, and Hopkins have not contacted me since my secondaries were complete in Sept./Oct.

*Sigh*

I will be sending out Letters of Interest/Update this week. We'll see if it works.

I see... letter's of interest huh? I really haven't thought about doing that... how are they structured (i.e. how long, what is said aside from the obvious) ?

why did you have two interviews at some schools? I never heard of that unless it was on the same day or because you thought you had an unfair problem with your first interviewer and requested a new interview.

One of my friends just received a Dartmouth interview, so maybe you'll hear from them soon...

And it's a good sign that you haven't heard from Einstein yet. I'm think I was rejected from there a few weeks ago.

Why did you have 2 USUHS interviews? At any rate, they get back to you fairly quickly... I hope you hear good news from them Bethesda is a great place to live 😀

now put it in your own words

This sounds more like a letter of intent. Substitute the " i'll attend" part with "i look forward to exploring a future with XXX SOM." and you have a letter of interest. I also added an update part essentially saying since my app. was complete/ interview I have done this that and the other thing. You can always rationalize your letter with a statement like "I did not want to miss an opportunity to be considered for the 2005 entering calss by not being proactive." or the like.
