I believe U. of Maryland is the oldest dental school in the states. I think that's a positive...that it's that old and still around. Maybe you can discuss this with your interviewer(s) when you go.

Yeah, Maryland is the oldest dental school. THey make sure to tell you that like 50 times before the interview day is over! 😀 Personally, the fact that its the oldest doesn't really mean much to me. It does have a great reputation as a clinical school and I beleive is in the top 5 in NIH funding for research. Also, they have plans to build a totally new clinical facility by 2005...just in time for our clinical years...at least, that's what they say 😉

Stony Brook is an excellent school with a great reputation within the dental community. Your day at Stony Brook is pretty laid back and includes a one on one interview with a faculty member. There facilities are extremely modern. I was truly impressed with Stony Brook and am highly considering attending next year.
