It is my understanding that pretty much unless you are one of the top 1 or 2 people in a club directly related to a particular specialty, residency directors won't care (i.e. an ortho residency director won't care that you were the anesthesia club president, and a urology director won't really care that you were the urology secretary). To me, it seems like club involvement primarily helps you from the connections that you make with various doctors in those specialities through the club
