Stupid Question

I have a very stupid question that i need an answer for. I have been researching local DO's to shadow, and I have noticed that most are not "aoa certified" what exactly does that mean. are most aoa certified, and is it bad to not be certified? Im a little confused by this!!! Thanks bunches

Just a wild guess.... but I think it means that they did allo- residencies, not AOA approved ones.

Some DOs are board-certified in their respective specialty by an Osteopathic Board such as the American Osteopathic Board of Neurologists and Psychiatrists (http://www.aoa-net.org/Certification/neuropsych.htm). Other DOs are board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (http://www.abpn.com/). Some are board-certified by BOTH boards (http://www.healthteam.msu.edu/providers/providersdetail.asp?key=1400).
