"Thank you for your interest in our Radiation Oncology Residency Program. Unfortunately, we do not have an opening beginning in July 2007, so we will not be participating in this year's match."

So I guess I can expect a refund from ERAS for my application fee to Rochester, right?
Geez, you know I don't have money to throw away!
If a program says that they are taking ERAS applications and you pay money to apply, and then they renege on that committment, then they should refund you your money.

Only in the screwed up world of Medicine does this **** fly.

(I want my ~$20 dollars back)

Rochester was probably a - place anyway. I think they did not fill their spots last year.

Rochester was not that bad. Unfortunately they had FMG/IMG's for a long time and the ancillary staff began taking advantage of them and now that they started getting US grads, they didn't tolerate it. They squaked to AGME about not being able to break away for didactics. The program was honest about the whole thing (many programs lie like mad, so buyer beware)and they listened as put Rochester on probation. Dispite being in a miserable town, then program is not so bad.

As far as the eras funding thing. I threatened a class action suit regarding the Sinai snafu and did get my $25 back. I would be equally agressive this year and try to get my money back.

Reply from ERAS:
"Good Morning,

ERAS' primary role is to deliver the applicant's application and
supporting documents to designated programs. This is no different than
placing a stamp on an envelope and requesting that the USPS deliver the
packet to a destination or going to a FedEx or UPS office and sending the
packet to programs. Regardless of whether the program accepts the packet
or decides to review the packet, the deliverer has rendered the service
when the package is delivered.

Similarly, ERAS uses the Internet to transmit application materials to
programs designated by the applicant for delivery. Although we make
every effort to ensure that our data is up-to-date, programs may not
always communicate to ERAS that they do not intend to accept applications;
or a program's status may change after our data has been finalized and
distributed. Therefore, it is imperative that applicants make direct
contact with the programs in which they are interested, in order to find
out their deadline and requirements.

No refunds will be given for applications sent to programs not
participating in ERAS or whose deadlines have passed. Contact the program
before applying via ERAS.

Regards,

Alana

did you threaten a class action suit against ERAS or against the program?

Eras and here was their answer, copy and pasted from an old thread:

The reference you made represents a flaw in our information which I've
asked staff to correct. Freida nor the Green Book is a definitive
source of which programs are participating in ERAS. The reason we ask
applicants to contact the programs directly is because those files
become obsolete almost as soon as they're posted. They're only as good
as programs going in to update them.

While I'm not convinced that the program told you they were
participating in ERAS this year, I do reognize that our information
provided in Ms. Randolph's e-mail is a bit misleading with regard to how
you should contact programs to find out about their participation in
ERAS.

In order for Ms. Randolph to process the $25 credit, she will need your
credit card information (name on card, card number, expiration date) as
we do not store that information once your payment is processed. Please
forward that information to her as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

It was only $25 but the whole process made me fell so raped I had to balistic on them. Try the email above. Good luck this year.

There were posts on this board about Rochester being put on probation back in Jan 2005. It is helpful to read these forum threads before applying to any program. Before you apply or interview anywhere, browse past threads for useful information...take some of it with a grain of salt though.
