Would submitting secondaries mid-August be considered early, average or late?

*sigh* if they're in by then, you'll be fine, don't worry about it. They're certainly not late, so it likely doesn't matter much. They'll still have most/all of their interview slots still open when they get your app.

You should be ok. You are def not early, but not late either. I agree with the person above who said all the interview spots, for the most part, are still open; however, you will be at the bottom of a huge pile from all the people already complete which is going to be a lot considering each year, med schools say they are receiving more and more early applications. It seems that people are finally getting the hint that applying early is a huge factor, not a minor one.

Depends on the school, but for most it's average.

Depends on the school. A bunch of schools didn't get secondaries out till mid-to-late July and a few more didn't get them out until the first week of August. I wouldn't consider you being late at those schools.
