I really enjoy these boards and I frequent them at times to browse around.

Here's my question:

If i took General Biology II during my Freshman year, and I got a D, do med schools look down upon that? and if so, should i also re-take the course? My bio professor who gave me the D grade told me that i needn't take it over to advance to the next biology class, so i don't know. i would believe that i should retake it. what are the pro's and con's of repeating a course, and my chances of gettin into medschool with repeating courses? okay thanks hope to hear from your replies soon. btw i'm a junior right now.. never took the chance to re-take Gen. Bio II during my sophmore year.. but right now i'm taking ochem I, will take ochem II and calculus in Spring Semester, and Physics I and II over the summer.

You should probably retake it. When you apply for AMCAS the two scores will average together. It will make your BPCM GPA look higher than if you did not retake it. Also, take upper level Bio courses and do well in them (preferably As)

I think you should retake the course. If your school is like my school, then you can retake courses that you make a D in. If you retake it and do much better, then the repeat course shouldn't mean much (you'll still probably have to explain it). Good luck to you in whatever you decide.
