I think I might take an intro Immunology-type course at my local community college just for fun this summer. I don't need the credit at my home institution. How will med schools view this? Is immunology something that has been stressed on the MCAT?

I don't know how med schools will view this but if you're taking this for "fun" then you better take it seriously because it will go on your application.

I wouldn't take this course. Immunology is extremely boring and will only stress you out, even if it's only for "fun". Take a history or English course or better yet, take a math course. You've got the rest of your life to learn about science.

I wouldn't say immunology is extremely boring! It all depends on what interests you. I think finding out how our bodies combat infection is fun.

Immunology isn't stressed (or even on as far as I can remember...it's been a while) on the MCAT. It is, however, part of microbiology in med school. So, some exposure to it before that is not at all a bad thing. Just be sure to take it seriously and do well like one of the other people posting mentioned.
