Ive been looking into similar things lately. So far I havent found a whole lot, but some of these programs are pretty big. If anyone has participated in any of these, any impressions would be helpful.
The NIH has a biomedical research program that sounds cool, you could potentially take part in research in a huge number of areas. The website is www.training.nih.gov
The pasteur institute is holding a program for microbiology (my major), however, I have little interest in learning french. If this were in a spanish speeking country i'd be there. http://www.pasteurfoundation.org/zuccaire.html
