i think backpacking Europe is on my list..
White water kayaking road trip across the U.S. The vauge plan for now is NYC, D.C. Virginia,WV, Colorado, Las Vegas, L.A., San Fran (ocean surf kayaking), OR (rouge river) WA, VC BC. Then back through WY to Boulder CO to get my stuff. Trip starts June 1st. Should be fun. If any boaters out there want in on part of it let me know.

My Birthday! Yay!

I'll be doing the road trip thing as well, don't know where I'm going yet though (and may not know when I set off 🙂 ) I *may* be working some this summer as well, we'll see.

arkroyal, definitely backpack Europe. It's so much fun. I didn't get into Eastern Europe, but England, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany were great. I wish I was going back!

Dream #1:

Quit my job early.

Go to St. Louis for my friend's wedding.

Stay there and attend WashU.

Dream #2:

Quit my job early

Go drop all my cash at Ikea

Hop in the moving van and drive to Nashville. Set up a sweet Ikea-laden pad.

Reality:

Work until the last possible minute to save as much money as I can

Buy/borrow/steal second-hand furniture from family and friends

Hop in the moving van at the last minute and drive to whatever school accepted me.

Tentative (and ideal) plans: Graduate. Live in NYC for the summer, work/intern for NYU med school in a public health program. Vacation in Canada for a couple weeks. Move to top choice school in August. 🙂

in may, drive to houston and visit Johnson Space Center and Mission Control at NASA (i've never been), which is actually on the way to the ultimate awesomeness in Florida to watch the space shuttle launch. but wait there's more. and then drive up to maryland with my girl to take a roadtrip tour with the top down along the coast to see the new england lighthouses from virginia to maine. most bombdiggety summer yet. 😎

Wow, people have awesome plans! jbar, I love whitewater kayaking. I used to be obsessed, but I haven't done it in years.

My plan: Work through mid-June. Husband takes his boards the third week in June and then has one week free before starting 3rd year. So that's our last "just us" time for about 30 years  He has orientation last week of June and starts rotations July 1st. In July we will be moving to a new place (as yet undetermined), so I'll be packing and unpacking. First week of August I have a baby (unless it decides to come early or late!). Then I either drive myself crazy by starting med school the next week 😱 or take a year off to be a mommy -- either option is entirely possible at this point!!

Yup, looks like I have a full summer, too 😛

Wow, I didn't know either! CONGRATS!!! :hardy:

So, uh... you could potentially shadow, or even have a class with, the doc that delivers your baby?

1-2 months in singapore (my hometown, haven't been back in THREE YEARS) eating YUMMY food and hanging out with old friends.... also introducing my boyfriend to the world i grew up in! and then hopefully (if i can scrape the money together) 2 weeks for climbing kilimanjaro and going on safaris and such 🙂

I think I may go back out to Yosemite and recert my NOLS W-EMT licensure (I was out there a few years ago). I'm also thinking of traveling; I have a lot of miles to use up. Maybe to Mexico for a while, or somewhere across the Atlantic. It's the first summer in 8 years where I don't have to do anything to impress anyone, and dammit I'm gonna enjoy it!

Great American Road Trip spending some quality time with my best friend before we move far, far away from each other. Starting in Texas, up through CO/NM, through NV (Vegas, baby), Disneyland, and then up the West Coast. Possible Canada and maybe even take the ferry to Alaska if it's feasible. Then through the midwest, some east coast stuff (haven't planned that part yet), eat at Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah (a MUST), Florida incl. Disneyworld, stay with my old Tulane girls in NOLA, back to TX.

Say goodbye to all my friends, be depressed about the end of an era, chill with the parents for a few weeks, move to St.Louis and start at WashU.

I'm glad you guys aren't all saying "research." Makes me feel like not such a slacker 🙂

finally go back to my motherland of China. probably a cruise through the Three Gorges before the dam project floods all the iconic scenery. can't wait to finally see Shanghai and Beijing.

there's so much else i would like to do as well. like culinary school or something... meet someone like giada de laurentiis.
