Same here. In-state applicant, haven't heard anything since my complete date of 10/17. Recently, this date has been changed to 12/6, but I remain "unreviewed." I don't know what is going on. 🙁

Same here. Been complete since mid-october. I guess they're behind. Has anyone tried calling Mr. Rosso?

I doubt calling Mr. Rosso would make any difference, because I know he updates the online status check as soon as a decission is made. When I interviewed there, they did say they expect a lot more applications this year (but doesn't every school?).

But he seems pretty helpful, so it wouldn't hurt to call him.

I called the admissions office about a week ago regarding the status of my application, because it said on my status page that my file was still not complete and unreviewed. They told me that everything was received and my file was still "under review." Whatever that means... I guess B-Lo is just being slow? I'm an in-state resident as well. 😕

Thats wierd ... my recommendations didn't go out till end of october because of my stupid professor (that really ****ed everything up).. and I got an interview invite about a week ago.. I am instate though

Hm I don't know. They were really quick with me.. I got my stuff in kind of late (mid September) and was invited for an intervew two weeks later. Maybe things are just piling up now?

They probably rank the pile in some way.

Wow.....This is very interesting. I am trying to see if it is disturbing at all.

Hey, Gluon where did you find that? They keep referring to appendixes in it that list what they look for at interviews, weighting criteria, etc? Do you have those?

Here is the main directory of admissions related documents. I have looked through some of them but couldn't find the appendices they were referring to.

I was really surprised to find all this stuff posted online, althought I just don't have the time to look through all of them. In any case, now that you have that link, dig away!

It is disturbing to read this crap. Most of it I think is bull**** anyway. It is unfair and inaccurate to tag each person as a number, this whole process is a crap shoot, most of it is luck 🙁 I wish I did not read this crap.

Yea, I think this is wierd. They REALLY put preference on adding diversity to the class. I do see the need for diversity but I also don't see the need to over-emphasize it. Such bull!! 😡

Ummm, I don't think this is supposed to be accessible. Although I can't imagine how a webmaster would forget to check the "do not allow browsing" box. It's 101 stuff.

Haha, tell me about that. Once I found that link, I started to look for similar links at other schools. NYU has something similar to the minutes of the this kind of admissions meeting, but it requires you to log in with an NYU ID to see it.

If anyone is interested in Stony Brook, here are some admissions related stats.

did these policy guidelines change for this 2005-06 application cycle?

also, SUNY Buffalo is going really really slow!

I've been waiting forever!

You should maybe call... no offense but my experience (and I have several other friends who are applying there as well) has been that Buffalo is very on top of things. They update status pages as soon as they know, etc. Maybe they have something similar to the "on hold" pile like GW, Drexel, Upstate, etc., but they just don't notify the applicants that they are on hold like the other schools do? I mean, that's where I am at about 10 of my schools.... complete for a while but haven't heard about an interview. I just assume I'm on the unofficial hold list. They are very nice at the admissions office - I bet if you call and express your concern that you've been complete for a while but haven't heard anything, they will tell you something like "we're still reviewing applications" or "we've reviewed your application but haven't made a decision" which is what I got when I called the other schools I haven't heard anything from.

As for Buffalo's admissions policies that sheet definitely looks like the only criteria for admission is diversity! I'm whitey mcwhiterson, so I don't know why they let me in. I'm also pretty mediocre as far as stats and stuff. Just goes to prove the process is a crapshoot, I guess. The one nice thing about Buffalo, as I've said before, is that it might take a longer time because they do actually read EVERY LITTLE THING in your application. They do assign a number, but hey, at least they read it. I feel fairly certain that all those schools that rejected me within a week of my applying did not read my app 🙂

I just called them and they said my application is currently under review, although my status page has been displaying "unreviewed" for 2 months alread. DId they just lie to me? 🙁

Buffalo's a very silly school. They interview a decent number of people, and they seem to hand out almost no immediate acceptances. Even if you do get an interview, you're pretty much guaranteed to end up on the waitlist. Look at the number of people on this board who interviewed at Buffalo, and then look at how many got in. Look at how many were waitlisted. From speaking to other people from my early interview date, not a single acceptance was issued, and over twenty-five waitlists were issued.

It's hard for me to think they have a good policy at Buffalo.
