super basic question about school deposits

i've never had this explained to me so i just wanted to make sure that i have it right.

if i get into a school now and they say that i have to put down a deposit within a couple of weeks to hold my place, i pay it regardless of still waiting to hear from better schools, right?

then if i get a better acceptance in a few months, i withdraw from the first school and put a deposit in the second one?

these deposits aren't binding, right?

they are non refundable, but they aren't going to sue you for not attending.

great. thanks. just wanted to make sure i hadn't committed myself somewhere by accident.

actually, temple is refundable.

actually, quite a few are refundable. the MSAR has info on which are and which aren't.
