Rad onc resident here trolling your board. Was wondering if anybody had recommendations on a good textbook for understanding surgical techniques and anatomy, specifically related to surgical oncology.

I would reccomend PPO - The Principles and Practice of Oncology. By Devita, Hellman, and Rosenberg.

Hits oncology from every angle.

Yes, I agree. But what I was looking for was something more illustrated that would actually show nice pictures of the surgical techniques and what is exposed...rather than describing it. Basically, something close to seeing what one would see in the OR...

Okay then....

Zollinger's Atlas of Surgical Operations (complete but expensive-gold standard)
Atlas of surgical oncology (there's a couple with the same title both good)
Mastery of Surgery (more text)

An alternative: Operative Anatomy

There aren't too many available with actual pictures - Zollingers has drawings and I use it quite frequently. Much less expensive and with less pictures would be something like Skandalakis and Skandalakis.
