I was curious as to how other residencies incorporate the Surgery ICU rotation into the residency schedule.
Since the new rules we've had some difficulty figuring out exactly how to make sure it is fully staffed and still a good learning experience. I am at a Level I Trauma Center. Currently our ICU on average has two surgery R2s and then there is an IM or ER resident added to the mix. We usually have a resident on call in the ICU. We've been having some issues as there is always not a third person to add to the mix for the call schedule.
How does everyone else do their ICU call schedule/rotation?
