SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hell yea!

Just wait till 3 weeks before and cram your arse off!

We should do a poll..how long did you study for the MCAT's 🙂

Actually, in August 2000 I was one week away from taking the MCAT having not yet taken o-chem nor finished the g-chem sequence.

I think this is a fine example of the good judgment I hope to show as a physician.

Fortunately, my prehealth advisor talked me out of it, and I am forever in her debt.

I nominate "SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP!!!!!!!" for the "Best SDN Thread Title Ever".

🙂

I second the nomination. I smile and laugh every time I say "SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP".

How can you not read a post with

"SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP" as the title?

where has time gone? its seems like its coming up so fast nowadays. Very soon you're going to realize its only a week away and them we'll see some people really start to panic!!
I think you should just concentrate on studying, that will help you calm down, right? heh.

🙂 •••••Yep! It's definitely up there with "Anthrax in my rejection letter"

I think we should make it a point to keep this post on the front page.

Or else, we can just make up random post titles and put those up.

The anthrax in the rejection thing was pretty friggin' funny, though.

How could you not get reeled in by SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP!?! That's great!

Anyway, the MCAT thing - 9 months (no, not a typo). I'd been out of school for a long time and started slow to get my feet wet. However, I think 7 weeks is enough time if you work your butt off.

I'm so stressed out!!!!!!!!
still have to start the damn topical exams!
and bring verbal up
hmm... where are those gorges?
(kidding of course, you'd be surprised how serious people here are about that)
damn corn-hell to... well to HELL!

Put me down as well for "SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP" thread title of the year.

shireen,

now that's a way to start off your SDN career. you're a natural at this stuff. and i was worried about the future of the pre-allo board, it looks like everything will be okay for one more year.

one more vote for "SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP"

Doesn't Homer Simpson say "SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP" at some point or another? For some reason, I always think of Homer saying it.

Great attention grabber! If you write your essays this well you will be the most sought after interviewee at med schools. Seriously, We think it's great, and we are the docs and adcoms of the future.

I can see it now... start off the AMCAS statement with SWEET MOTHER OF CRAP in bold across the top... Talk about 'drawing you into the essay'

I dont think i ever heard homer say those words. maybe something similiar to it i think.

This deserves a bump to page one.

Oh, and to answer the MCAT question, no sweat. You won't remember things you cram into your short term memory today anyway. Obviously you should be doing some studying already, but you should be focusing on broad concepts, don't do panicky cramming until a week or two before April 20 <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

I'm glad you all are so amused by my signature phrase...maybe i should use it during an interview (assuming i get one). yes. i think i'll do that.
have you guys been reading the writing samples in the big kaplan study guide? it's like they used every word they could find in the dang dictionary!!! i know when it gets to the writing section i'm going to do something stupid - like forget how to spell the word "the".

If you're freaking out enough to title something "sweet mother of crap" at 7 weeks before the MCAT I just can't wait to see what the post will be titled 7 days before the MCAT.

i'm going to fu** sh** up old school!!!!!!! i like that line a lot

I took the MCAT in April of 2000, and I tried to start studying in Jan 2000, but I took on a pretty heavy courseload that term (granted, which included Orgo II, which helped A LOT!), so i ended up not studying seriously for the MCAT until a week before, when I tried to cram in physics (which I completely didn't know) and tried to take a practice test (didn't even get through one all the way). I ended up with a 27 (9 V, 9 BS, 9 PS), and by some miracle got into med school, but I really don't recommend doing it the way I did. That 1-week studying-for-the-MCAT experience was ultra-high stressful, not to mention the several weeks afterward, when I was trying to catch up on my schoolwork that I had piled up. If I had to do it all over again, I would take the August MCAT. April is a BAD IDEA if you're taking classes at the same time.
