Switching Family Medicine residencies as a PGY-2

Hi. My girlfriend and I matched in separate cities. I know there are sites like residency swap but what would be the recommended procedure to going about this. I am assuming that someone has to leave from a program in order for her to take the spot. She s currently a PGY-1 in family medicine looking for a current PGY1 spot or PGY2 spot next year in Los Angeles. She's a bit nervous about talking to her PD regarding this especially if there are no available spots for transfer.

hey. either one of you could switch/transfer out. Im in a state UNV looking to transfer out to pgy1/2 FM/IM/EM. let me know if either of you are interested in the swap.
And i would hold off of discussing witht he PD unless you have a person willing to transfer...creates bad blood otherwise.
