switching into general surgery from surgical subspecialty

I am currently at a top program in a surgical sub-specialty. I realized this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life and want to switch into general surgery. Timing is really bad right now at the end of the year. Has anyone done this recently. Suggestions? Thoughts?

I suggest you rethink this. Which subspecialty? And what makes you think that general surgery would be any better?
