How is it that her increased urine production would be linked to increased blood pressure? I'm missing the connection, as blood pressure is often increased by fluid retention.

The first step in filtration is at the Bowman's capsule. The higher the blood pressure, the more filtrate produced, hence more urine excreted. The filtrate is taken from a bed of capillaries (glomerulus network). The higher the pressure, the more stuff gets pushed out!

Alright, that makes sense. Isn't blood pressure increased via resorption and water following ions back into vasa recta though?

or is that amount negligent in comparison?

Correct. However in this scenario, I believe the increased blood pressure was due to blood vessel constriction. Im sure re-absorbtion is still happening, but not enough to produce a non-surprising amount of urine
