When would a tagged red blood cell scan be used instead of or in conjunction with angiography?

Depends on the rate of bleeding. To find anything with angiography you need a rate of 1-2cc/min, with a tagged RBC scan its more like 0.5 cc/min. So if you have a brisk bleed the angiogram gives you more info but is more likely to give no info if the bleed is too slow
