Hey guys,

I am taking my MCAT August 18th, and am wondering how I should go about the application process as quick as possible. I don't really even know where to begin. I started filling out transcript information for AACOMAS, but I am not even sure where I am looking to apply. I have heard it takes a month to get verified through AACOMAS as well, so I am looking for some suggestions on the best way to go about applying to medical school. Sorry for the ambiguity of the question, but any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Definitely focus on the MCAT, but also start filling out the AACOMAS when you have down time. As the cycle progresses, it'll take longer and longer for your app to be verified, so I suggest submitting it to a random throwaway school that you have no interest in to get it verified. If you do this, you can submit a complete and verified application as soon as you get your MCAT score back.

While you're waiting for your score, do some research on which D.O. schools interest you. Sort them by mission, GPA, and what you think you got on the MCAT; watch out for schools with regional and in-state biases. After you receive your score, revise your list and send out your primary ASAP.

Good luck.

You'll have plenty of time to do all of after the mcat while waiting for your score. It takes like an hour or two at most to fill out aacomas. You can do the whole throwaway school thing if you want to save time. When you update your application with the mcat score, you can submit your primaries the same day. Just don't submit secondaries until after your mcat score is on aacomas. But pre write them.

Again, plenty of time to do all of this after you take the MCAT.

You can manage it all mate. This is good practice for when you get into school and don't have the luxury to simply focus on a big exam

Have you started your personal statement? While the app itself may take 1-2 hours, your personal statement could take up to a few weeks

My personal statement is finished. In fact, if any of you are interested in reviewing for me, I would be more than happy to pm you! Thanks again all.
