Is it worth taking this lab pass/fail to protect the GPA? I'm a transfer student that took most of the core pre-med classes at my university, and my GPA has a strong upwards trend (cumulative GPA: ~3.8). I enrolled in a few courses this summer and I'm not sure if it'll be too much, so I might opt to take Orgo Lab p/f if I'm not projected to get an A. Is this is a rationale decision? I'm also a ORM in CA.

Not really. It's 1 or 2 credits out of how many? Your GPA is 3.8. What would it be with a B or a C?

Especially if you are projecting a B, this will do more harm than good by looking like you are masking a C. Either way, it will look bad and project neurotic GPA protection, which is exactly what it is, which will not help you. I'd resist the urge. A C in orgo lab will not tank your application. Neither will a P, but it just won't look good.
