I'm considering taking Physics this summer at home (versus my private institution) to save on tuition (less than half-price) and on board/food. My Physics department is stingy with accepting credit from other schools so I don't think I'd be able to get transfer credit. However, I don't need the credits to graduate, though I do have to take the class this summer to fulfill my premed reqs (decided to go this route quite late).

Does anyone know how this would reflect in admissions? Technically, med-schools should accept the credit no matter where it comes from, because they will recieve transcripts from all colleges I attended, correct (if I'm not please let me know)? And if that is true, would it still hurt to see that I took classes at a different college? I attend what is considered a difficult university and it could be percieved that I'm looking for an easy way out of a hard class.

It would really be a lot simpler for me to just take the class this summer at home, but I'm starting to get paranoid that it would hurt my chances at admission in the future. Thanks for any help.

Magnum, I did the very same thing with Orgo. I go to a private liberal arts school, but wanted to take the class at home when it would be convenient AND relatively cheap, so I took it at my state school. My school didn't accept the transfer credit.

I'm confident that this in no way hurt my application. In fact, the class wound up being small, and I was able to form a very friendly relationship with the professor, who wrote me a wonderful LOR. So if anything, it helped. And BOY was it awesome to have the class out of the way.

Go for it!
