How many of you are gonna be taking pre-reqs this summer before you start pharm school in the fall? It seems like everyone. I'm gonna be taking a ton.+pity+

I'll be taking Speech: Public Speaking this summer. What angers me is that I've already taken Speech: Interpersonal Communications, but the pharmacy school won't accept that for their speech requirement.

I definitely think that the speech requirement should be waived if they've iv'd you. If they can't tell that you can talk from the iv I don't know what they get out of it.

yeah, some schools only want public speaking, not interpersonal comm. so it's always a good idea to check out what the schools want before taking a class that is not required.

triangulation, what classes are you taking this summer?
i took care of most classes back in undergrad.
the only class that i took for p-school was speech.

It depends on where I end up being accepted. I'll either be taking Anatomy & Physiology II, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics or some combination of the three. My interview with Campbell in North Carolina is in April. If I get accepted there, I won't have to take anything over the summer. That would be very nice.

a crap load

Stats, maybe another speech, theoretically another micro and lab, oh yeah and psych if I can't get my online course here quick.

yep, depending on the school, anywhere from 2 to 4. pretty surely speech and econ, then some combo of microbiology, physiology, and/or intermediate composition. yawn. at least they don't care where you complete the pre-reqs, so you can find somewhere cheap!

Not an easy thing in this recession though. A lot of the JCs in CA are dramatically cutting back on their summer schedules bc of budget deficits, since most schools don't receive summer funding.

yep Tri, you sure got a point there. too bad i am only learning this now ... i may be SOL... are you having luck finding all your courses? i am so close to giving up but i know i can't...

Ugh, I am getting so frustrated... I have to retake speech and psychology for UOP because I took them at an unaccredited JC here in Baton Rouge. 🙁

I am finding that all of the summer classes are filling up quick, and I won't have a priority reg. date because I'm not a returning student, already have a B.S....etc.

I feel like I've applied to every JC within a 60 mile radius of Sacramento just to keep all my options open.

I can see myself crying in the dean's office already...offering to wash his car for a year or something.

It's cool that I need to retake public speaking too... I'm only giving a workshop to 700 daycare directors next week for the department of ed's spring conference here in Baton Rouge. Yeah, a speech class will do me good...

I just don't know what I'll do if I can't get in...having quit my job and moved to California...

okay, I'm done whining now.

Thanks for listening...

I'm going to try not to. I won't work my first year, so I'll need to work a lot the summer before to get my finances in order.

I'm glad I don't have to take any classes.

I'm just going to sit back and relax. First summer since high school I didn't have to go to summer classes/work.

Did you look at housing yet?
Im so tempted to get an apt for myself. I know Ill be splurging, but its stockton. A pharmacist that grad. last year got an 2 bedroom apt for 750 a month

No, not yet. I was planning on staying with a friend in Sacramento while I took my summer courses. Now that I don't have to, I'm still moving, but maybe I'll get a part-time job. I want to be in Stockton before I start looking ( everyone keeps telling me there's some shady areas there). Of course, it can't be any worse than Baton Rouge - serial killer and all. 😱
My girlfriend and I also have a cat and dog so ...

Yeah I heard there were shady areas too, but the overall town isn't that bad at all. If anything else, it seems to be modernizing. A lot of shopping centers and new housing on the outskirt.

Having a pet is definatly cool. I'm tempted about getting a dog but I don't know if I have time for it.
