I take the PTCE in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone took the practice test online at ptcb.org and if that's a good idea or no not to waste my money? Also I know the basic conversions but do I need to learn all the ones converting from grains and drams, and ones like that? And does anyone know if they have started giving you your results if you passed or not as soon as you take the test?

Thanks in advance for your help and any suggestions for the test are appreciated 🙂

I just took the ptce today and passed!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOo😀
you can take those practice tests, i would atleast review out of a book and so....do you have pharm experience? i didnt and passed! you find out if you passed right when you end the exam!
now its time to go job hunting!!!!!!!

No I don't have any experience either, but I've read and worked through one of the books and have been studying off and on since October so hopefully I'll pass 🙂 Was it mainly math and laws?

if i had to split it up...
75% math
20% pharmacology
5% pharmacy laws

well once you get cert, enjoy finding a job......you wont get any feedback of the test (except for the result...but no scores) til they snail mail it to you in 2-3 weeks! once you get that most places (like hospitals) want a license! uggggggg just more paperwork, time and money!
good luck! any more qs?

I'm getting nervous. I take the exam on the 31st and I don't know anything about laws or pharmacology. And I would say I'm decent in Math(my most hated subject). I'm trying to read Mosby's Review for the PTCB and there is just too much information to learn. :scared:

Hello,
Try to focus more on calculations first. Then concentrate on generic / brand names. I meant to say, know the brand, generic names with uses and side effects. Try to learn the vitamins too. I had a question like "what is the other name for B12?". Learn to convert mcg to mg, liters to mls etc. In the exam, slowly read the entire question and try to understand. Please dont rush. Another question was on hospital environment. "What is Look a like Sound a like label for?". Some questions on Laws too. So Finally try to read the entire Mosby's book and try to understand. The exam is easy if you focus and try to understand the question well. Good Luck. I took the exam on March 16th 2009 and found it easy. So should you!

Hello MhaDanceQT,
Nothing will be a waste. Practice test on line is one of the best way to learn. I took one and was useful. I took the PTCE on March 16th 2009. It was easy. More on calculations, brand / generic drugs, uses and side effects. Some common sense questions. Also learn fractions, decimals ratios very well. Please dont rush and read the entire question and try to understand what they except. 'DONT MAKE MISTAKE'. Good Luck.

Hello Lotus89

I took the ptce exam on March 16. As soon as i completed the exam I got the result "PASS" on the screen and also the print out. Is this the actual result? let us know thanks
