Just started eagerly reading TBR chemistry. Just a very important question:

Example 1.1: Simple conversion of units: (page 4)

So I do need to memorize that 1609 meter = 1 mile, that 1 Kg = 2.205 lb and that 1 in = 2.54 cm (and many other ones for yard, gal, etc.), right?

Example 1.2: Simple temperature conversion: (page 5)

So I do need to memorize the formula to convert between F and C, right?

I am not a big fun of memorization as it displaces important neurons that can be used for other more noble tasks, such as logic, analysis and critical thinking, etc. Therefore I would like to confirm that the MCAT does require a lot of memorization and in no way those equations and conversion ratios will be give to you.

Are you sure you are actually reading TBR? They explicitly state that you don't need to have those values memorized.

However, after years of high school and undergrad science, I don't know how you wouldn't know that 1kg = 2.2lbs or that 2.5cm = 1 inch. I ran track/cross country in high school, so the 1mi=1.6km is something I just know as well.

What page? I honestly did not see it. But the formula you must memorize, right?
