I recently learned, in broad strokes, about this field. As someone who for the longest time planned on going to law school, and worked in litigation consulting before med school, this field greatly appeals to me. Can anyone with some experience chime in about what exactly the work entails? I have an idea of academic based forensic psychiatry (as of course, being a medical student that was my exposure), but would like to know more about non academic forensic psychiatry. What kind of practices do these people run when not doing forensics (because, as I understand it, you pretty much have to practice to be credible...and I would want to anyway)? What kind of salary do they average? What are the work hours like? Thanks for the information folks.
