I had some questions about proper etiquette in replying to letters of rejection that will eventually be headed my way, so I did some research. Here is one proposal:

Rejected Rejection

Dr. <XYZ>
<Director of Admissions>
<ABC Med School>

Dear Dr. <XYZ>,

Thank you for your letter of <date>. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission to your school.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of med schools it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite <ABC Med School>’s outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore, I will be entering the class of 2007 at <ABC Med School>. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,

<Your Name Here>

You can't argue with the logic of that. I will give you all of the money in my wallet right now if you actually send that to a school.

I think if I was an adcom and I read this (if someone actually wrote this to a school) I would have to let this student in. That is just too funny.

yeah, i posted this awhile ago. but yes its always funny and no, noone is stupid enough to write this to an ADCOM. :rolleyes:

Perhaps, perhaps. But we can dream...I content myself with thoughts of buying the aforementioned *stupid* (dare I say genius?) SDNer a large steak dinner and bottomless black n tans at McMenamins PDX (ok, so we might not beable to do the black n tans, but they've got a wicked selection of brews) should he/she actually be able to prove said letter was sent to an adcom.

Why not send it in? What can an adcom that's already rejected you even do? Reject you again? I am SERIOUSLY considering sending this in.

Well then Doug, next time you're in visiting OHSU and I'm visiting OSUCVM we should meet up at the local brew establishment and I'll give you that pitcher of cold adult beverages I owe ya. Provided, of course, you can prove you sent it...
