Has anyone on this message board gotten accepted into temple with only a GRE score (in lieu of a MCAT)?

If so, if you do not mind, what was your score?

I want to go to temple, have a good CV and GPA and have already taken the GRE (in the process of tackling the MCAT).

My GRE score was average I would say. V= 490 M = 660 Writing=5

(I hate verbal more than anything lol).

Thanks!

According to their brochure, the GRE combined scores were 1120 for their class of 2014, and 1100 for the class of 2013. Looks like your scores are right around the average!

Hey there! I talked to the admissions people at temple, who were very nice, and told me that the deal is if you have a GRE score that is fine to only apply with. Their average score last year was a 1100. However, you can only be considered for scholarships with an MCAT score so keep that in mind.

I would take the MCAT.

I took the GRE over the summer with only a weeks worth of studying and pulled off a 1060. Which isn't a great score, but not terrible as that there average the previous year was a 1100.

I got an Interview but didn't get into the program.

My stats were:
Science GPA 3.7
Overall GPA 3.6
GRE: 1060

Not to mention I had a couple years of research experience in 2 different labs and logged hundreds of patient care hours.

I guess I must have really blown my interview. 😕

Honestly, I think the fact I took the GRE put me at a disadvantage.

Im taking the MCAT in February and attempting to apply to other schools.

TAKE THE MCAT! NOT THE GRE!

Interesting. I just called admissions and they recommended that I apply with my GRE still... They told me that a score > 550 is highly recommended on both sections (my gre score is a bit lopsided however). What were your Math and Verbal GRE scores ?

I am surprised you didnt get in you have super high GPA!

What did you say during your interview???

Nothing out of the ordinary, to be honest I thought it went well.

Talked a little bit about my undergrad courses, shadowing experience, research background ect...

Maybe they might have thought you were a little overqualified? Your stats seem pretty high

I'm just curious, but did you imply that you have an interest in MD or DO programs also?

480 on the Verbal seems pretty low. You get 200 points automatically, so you only scored 280 points? That could be why.

Haha. I (the original poster) am planning on applying with a 480 in the verbal tomorrow (just finalizing my personal statement) so I will let you guys now how it goes (as stated in the orignal post my math was 660... also I AM taking the MCAT in January).

Dude... hahah. I took the GRE twice. The first time I focused on the entire test. Got a 470 on the verbal and a 600 on the math. The second time I focused ONLY on the verbal... and my freaking math score went up 60 points and my verbal only 10!

The verbal section on the gre is the hardest and most pointless section of any test ever! I used TPR... had like 1000 notecards full of words I memorized... which was nearly a total waste because pretty much every word on the test was not in the TPR book!

I think to do well on the gre verbal you really need to have been reading regularly since you were a kid.
