Does Tennessee have a deal with Arkansas? Does any one know/ I heard that Tennessee accepts a certain amount of Arkansas residents a year, is this true? I'd love facts vs opinions, Thanks!

Yes , Tennessee does hold a certain amount of spots for Arkansas residents. The last I heard, the number was around 18 , but this number could have changed. I'm assuming you are an Arkansas resident ?... Where do you attend undergrad ?

When I interviewed at UT, they said that they can take more than 18 AR residents...but those additional students would have to pay out-of-state tuition and fees. The 18 reserved spots for AR residents will count as in-state students.

Tennessee reserves 18 spots for AR not Ak which is alaska.... the spots are in a pool all to themselves. They aren't counted in the in-state pool. Arkansas' 18 reserved seats technically pay out of state tuition, but thats the deal Arkansas pays the difference in out-of state tuition and instate tuition.

Anyone know if you have to apply for Arkansas to make up that difference or if they automatically give it to you once you're accepted?

Arkansas automatically gives UT the cash im pretty sure. Im sure they will explain all that is necessary before you start school. I know there is a few other things too, like they give you an extra 10000 just from being from AR... Im not positive on how everything works I just know that at UT you wind up paying pretty close to the same as the instaters

lol...oops, I meant AR. And you're completely right. The 18 don't count as in-staters but they end up paying about the same as in-staters. If you're from AR, but are not among the 18 who get the grant, then you'll have to cover the out-of-state price on your own without AR making up the difference.
