I had a question: What is the minimum MCAT score required to teach princeton review or kaplan? Do they look at individual subjects or overall? Is there other criteria besides test scores?
Thx.

for TPR, you need a 12 in the subject you want to teach.

so if you wanted to teach orgo, you'd need a 12 in the biological sciences section.

you also need to pass an initial teaching audition. if you do, you are invited for training, which consists of teaching evaluations and a content test. if you pass that, you're a teacher!

Kaplan requires you to score in the 90th percentile(12's) for the test you want to teach. I only reached that mark in bio but they had me subbing for a physics session and they also have me teaching a DAT course. Kaplan is full of crap. They basically called me up a month after I had been hired(with no contact in between other than you have been hired and we'll contact you about training. my emails regarding training session info were never returned.) and then asked me if I wanted to sub. I said ya but I haven't been trained. The supervisor was like thats ok. Come in today and we'll go over 4 days worth of training in two hours so u can start the next day. wtf is that? Then I was given the key to a classroom on another college campus and told to teach a session of bio and a session of physics. Great!!! 🙄 First day of class...people ask me a bunch of ish regarding kaplan resources that i cannot answer and look like a dumbarse for.

Then the supervisor tells me he needs DAT teachers. I tell him I have never even sniffed a DAT book in my life and know absolutely positively nothing about the DAT or dental school. He says thats ok here's the teachers manual.

Basically I think Kaplan is a joke. They could care less about your score. They just want your money. I guess that should be obvious. But I didn't know the extent of bull-ish they pull til I was hired by them. I actually took TPR for my prep course so I can't speak for them. But Kaplan is trash. I'm only sticking with them because I have already been hired and I need money. I dunno about other Kaplan centers. Maybe the one that hired me is just unorganized. I was basically hired and tossed a bunch of teacher's manuals and told to teach. No training, no orientation about Kaplan resources, nothing. Thrown out to swim on my own. What the heck kind of quality control is that?

I mean I can understand the short training for me to sub since it was urgent. But the supervisor hasn't contacted me about formally having the 4day training session before i teach my next session and now he wants me to teach DAT and lie about having taken the DAT and claim I am some DAT expert to my students?

So if you want to get hired easily and get paid then go to Kaplan UCRiverside. They'll hire you after a 5 min audition and basically toss you a bunch of teacher's manuals and say go teach.
