Hi all, I am a TX resident applying to all the Texas schools for the 2016 cycle.
- Biology major with a minor in Business
- my TMDSAS GPA will be roughly 3.85, sGPA ~3.8 (Upward trend, had C in calc first semester of college)
-MCAT: 10/8/11- 29. I was averaging around ~32/33 so I plan to retake in Jan.
- 140 hours clinical volunteering, both at a charity clinic, and major hospital
-50 hours shadowing split between Cardiothoracic surgeon and Pulmonologist
-1 semester research (8hr/week)
-2 clubs (2 years)
-Undergrad Chemistry Peer Mentor
With my current MCAT, do I have any chance at any MD schools in texas (UTMB, PLFSOM)? Or do I have better chances at D.O schools primarily TCOM?

Can't say if things will be too different in 2016, but if your essays are good, you get some leadership in there (if you haven't already in your involvement in the two clubs), and some primary care shadowing, you might hear back from A&M, PLFSOM, TCOM and if you are lucky, Lubbock and UTMB.

Would you say that I have a good chance at TCOM?

Have you ever shadowed a DO? If so, stats wise you have a good chance for an II from TCOM, A&M, and PLFSOM. TTUHSC and UTMB your stats are pretty close so you have a decent chance if you get your app in EARLY and have good EC's
