Does anyone know anything about the Scott & White program? Good, bad, or otherwise. Your comments would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I heard that Texas A&M is one of the top 10 or 15 programs in the country. It's similar to UT-Houston but with cowtipping!

😍 +pissed+ 😎

Not to risk sounding rude, but where are you getting your information from?

Based on the previous two threads it appears that you have a lot of interest in the Texas programs, however don't let that translate into false thoughts that they are part of the "elite" in the country. Every program has its goods and bads, but when speaking about the concensus "Top 10-15" I find it hard to believe that Scott & White or UT-Houston are anywhere close to that!

Scott & White- A nice community like hospital with affiliations to a University. Located in Temple where your Pathology specimen variety is not as vast as larger University setting programs. Also, its a small program and hasn't exactly filled through the match that well before. I am sure its a great program w/good pathologists graduating from there, but certainly not a Top 10 or 15 program.

UT-Houston Again, a smaller program residing in Baylor's shadow. A good program but by far not even on top of the list when it comes to just the Texas programs.

If you want to talk top 10-15, think about the comparisons. You are putting Scott & White is the same grouping as University of Washington, B&W (Boston), MHG (Boston), Hopkins, Emory, Stanford, Mayo and the like.

As I said above, its a good small program that I am sure will train you to be a good pathologist. I was impressed by the facilities, and they do have several strong Clinical programs (non-pathology), but if you are looking for strong programs in Texas then UT-Southwestern and Baylor would be the two that stand out. Hope this helps.

Actually, Scott & White has been consistently ranked in the top 15 teaching hospitals in the United States (right up there with Yale, Mayo, and Vanderbilt) for the past five years, by Thomson Reuters.
