For those who matched at UTSW, did you get the results from TMDSAS, UTSW, or both?
 
Only from TMDSAS; UTSW website still says "interviewed."

Congrats everyone and everyone that will check in the next few hours/day. I'm still in disbelief. I loved the school but one interview wasn't so hot. Guess it's all gravy, baby. If anyone knows where BillyBob's bar is, drinx on me for the next 20 mins!! --Trek
 
I'm just curious if any of you guys also interviewed at Baylor and would choose it over the school you matched at. I really want to go to Baylor and I'm curious about how Texans feel about the school.

maybe those who don't have a match next to "school matched" shouldn't give up hope until midnight comes around.

Right, like I'm going to stay up half the night just to see it again. It would have been nice if TMDSAS would have just made a message that said "no match" and put us out of our misery.

I'm going to go sulk now.
 
No match for me either. I'm holding out a sliver of hope until I see the results on UTSW's site, but it seems unlikely that the match results would "trickle in". They've been sitting on the results for two weeks, after all.

It seems like TMDSAS could have at least had the common decency to put "no match" on the page. Very unprofessional of them.
 
nothing next to mine either. guess I won't be going to texas anytime soon. although I've been accepted to my home state school I feel a little let down. oh well, what can you do....best of luck to you guys!!

Matched at UT Galveston, which was my #1 of 2 choices where I interviewed (didnt get a UT Southwestern interview, and declined interviews at Texas Tech and UT Houston).

Being familiar with your background frankly I'm shocked you didnt match. Maybe by some miracle the results arent completely up to date on the website yet. I'm not going to go to UT Galveston (you interviewed there right?) so hopefully that will open up a slot for you there.

You applied to Baylor also right?
 
Hey guys,

For those of you who are waiting for Southwestern to match and haven't matched yet, do not fret, it is still very early in the process. I am sure there are people who will choose Baylor over UT-Southwestern who have been accepted to both, and so the list will move.
 
Thanks for the note of confidence baylor21, but not matching means that neither UTMB or UTH thought I was a good candidate. I doubt Baylor will, but this definitely gives me incentive to do more lobbying at Baylor.

UTMB's website says they usually only take 10-20 people after the match, so I'm not holding my breath. Oh well.
 
Out of sheer curiosity (years away from applying) what website are you talking about?

Got into my numero uno choice-TEXAS TECH. Oh, it's been a long, long time since I was this happy. I've been waiting to exhale........

Congratulations to those who matched. Those who did not match: I was in your shoes same time last year, so I feel your pain. Keep your heads up, and remain hopeful.

Matched at my #3 UT-Houston
Alternate at my #1 UT-Southwestern
Unsure of my status with #2 A&M

but i am quite tickled with Houston, to be honest.

Congrats to all! :D
 
Looking forward to meeting you CRS. I matched with Houston also!! Southwestern was also my #1 choice.

And so we move on. :p
 
I feel like a dork. Go to both my classes today,a nd there were quite a few people talkign about the school they got accepted to. I felt out of the loop here for the first time in a long time. Oh well. Congrats all, maybe if enough people give up their Houston bid I'll get in (besides who wants to go to Houston anyway).

I hope reverse psychology works on some of you.
 
Just in case any of you are curious as to how the match worked out as far as first and second choices. The first number is how many applicants ranked that school first and the second number is how many ranked that school second. The last number is a total of the two:

Dallas 398 102 = 500
Houston 317 345 = 662
San Antonio 220 213 = 433
Galveston 190 199 = 389
Texas A&M 52 NA
Texas Tech 52 NA
TCOM 48 NA

Dallas had the most first choices this year but Houston had the most first and second choices.

For you guys that didn't match do NOT give up. Hundreds of students get into Texas schools off wailists every year. Good luck and congrats to all.

Ok, along with the numbers you posted should be mentioned that SW interviewed around 500 students, while UTH interviewed around 1000!! With this in mind, SW dominated the match.
 
I am in the group that was "DENIED."

I have come to the conclusion that the application process is almost arbitrary. Although I don't have a stellar GPA (3.15), my MCAT is above average (31). I also have a MPH. Just don't get it.

I see some schools (ie. UT Houston and soon Tech) have posted lists of all the accepted students that matched there. Does anyone know if Dallas has this list anyplace? I can't find it at all, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Thanks! --Trek

Argh- my bad mdmom- i meant UTMB has it up, not UT Houston. Sorry for the confusion. Although it seems UT Houston may put one up on that site they have for accepted students. --Trek

Will someone here be kind enough to explain how the TX med school stuff works. Do you interview at every TX school that you've applied to and then you and the schools rank one another??? Is that right?? Does it work like residency matching?

I'm just curious as to how it functions...excuse my naivety. :)
 
You interview at the schools that want to interview you not at everyone. Then you go onto a computer website and rank your schools in order of your preference from 1-7.

Then on Feb 1st you found out where you went. let's say your top 2 choices didn't accept you, and your third one did, you are headed to your third ransked school. If there is an opening in your 1st or 2nd ranked schools, they can offer you a spot but you aren't obliged to take it if you alrady were accepted at another school in Texas. However where you were matched yesterday you will go there, and dont' have any choice, unless of course a higher ranked school (on your list) makes an offer you can't resist.

For me it was one school, no match, and I don't know my status right now.
