So I interviewed with an Iranian physician and he seemed very interested in my knowledge of different languages. In particular, he seemed very intrigued by my interest in Arabic (I'm of Asian descent) and we spent some time talking about it as well as my travel experiences. He seemed to like my exposure to different cultures/populations very much.

Would it be appropriate to write "thank you very much" in Farsi on a thank you card? I don't know Farsi, but it is written in Arabic script, so I could look it up and write it fine (i.e. my calligraphy wouldn't look like a three-year-old's scrawl & be atrocious in that language, I don't think.).

Is this/could this be a bad idea? I just thought it could be a way to personalize the card and also reference our good conversation about diversity, etc.

I'd say go for it if you can make it look somewhat decent.

Thank-you notes in any language are a waste of time.

thank you in farsi is 'merci' like it is in french, hello is 'salaam' 😛

I'm Iranian and I speak fluent farsi. Say "Khale Mamnoon" Which means thank you very much. Khale=very much Mamnoon=thank you. I'd rather just transliterate it, rather then have in Arabic Script. The two languages do differ, and it will sound more personal if you do it this way.

Seriously though, your so lucky, I hope my interviewer is Iranian!

I think it would be kind of cool. go for it.
