The ADA screwed up and did not send out my DAT scores!!

I just found out today that the ADA did not sent out my test scores after I took the DAT on August 7th, 2006! 😱 When I signed up (online) for the DAT back in June, I checked all the boxes for my designated dental schools and have the documentation to prove it. At that time, they also charged me the full $350 it would cost to send out the scores to all 17 of my schools.😡

However, once August 16th rolled around (which is when they processed my scores), they did not send out official copies of my DAT scores to all my dental schools and I just found out today when I talked to them. When I called their testing center, they said that it must have been an unusual computer glitch and they said they would do their best to send out the official score reports asap.

I'm pretty bummed out because my application file could have been complete for the last 3-4 weeks and under review, but because the ADA screwed up my score reports, I'll be further back in line for review of my file!! 😡 😡

I will call them again on Monday to follow up with the director of testing services, and I was thinking that I should do the following things and wanted your opinion on it:

1) Immediately fax a cover letter to all my dental schools explaining the situation attached to my unofficial DAT scores sheet.
2) Request that the ADA sent out a letter to my dental schools on official letterhead explaining the delay as well as providing some documentation for this situation.
3) Make sure that the ADA overnighted my score reports to all the dental schools.

I am really stressing out now as I felt like I was earlier, but now it feels like I am applying much later than I planned to!

I would really, really appreciate your input on this situation - thanks a bunch!!

I really feel for you, because I would be extremely angry. But I don't really see what can be done at this time other than your third point, which is to have them overnight your scores. Hopefully your completed file will be reviewed quickly after that. Best of luck, buddy.

that sucks, i'm sorry. but here are 2 good reasons why you shouldn't stress:

1) if you are qualified, you are going to be accepted to 1 of the 17 (!!!) schools you applied to, you have my word. the difference between august and september is nothing really... it ain't december yet is it?

2) there is absolutely nothing you can do about it now, so you just gotta let it slide 😎

It probably wouldnt hurt to fax the schools the unofficial copy of your DAT score either. That way they atleast have some documentation (some may even start to process your application). Hang in there, I had a score report issue as well. The ADA is pretty good about helping.

Thanks everybody for your responses - very helpful! I was already nervous about applying, and this definitely didn't take away any of the stress.

Join the club, the same thign happen with me, except they just didn't send my electronic copy to the ADA database to arizona. It has been 3 weeks and the lady at ADA still hasn't put it in, finally I was able to reach her and told her exactly what I thought of ADA. To make a long story short she said my scores were in.
