I truly felt that 8R's bio section came straight out of nowhere. It just seems that the passages were so much more esoteric than any of the other AAMC exams, save 7R. Comparing 8R to 6R is like comparing two different exam formats.

Can anyone comment on how similar their recent MCAT form (test day) was to 8R? I'm freaked out, as I went down 3 points from on 8R in comparison to 6R.

The one I took last april was not as esoteric as 8 but not as straight forward as 6...somewhere in between. Dont freak out tho, i feel like the newer tests include much more reading comp than the older ones, so perhaps if you are atuned to that fact...i.e. reading the passages a bit more thoroughly than you might PS, and so on, I feel like alot of the answers can be extracted from the passages. I hope you have 9 too, for additional practice in sort of esotericy bio sections because i think 9 will also be that way also. And dont freak out, its very important to go in with confidence!!

better get used to it - that's the way BS will be from now on.

haha i think 8r tested not what you knew but how you processed new data, and how well you make educated guesses. although the questions were completely random (like the kinetic controlled and thermodynamic controlled organic question, ive never even read/heard about anything remotely close to that!) most of the time you can deduce what the answer is from the question stem.. by looking at the one or two clues the embeded in the question stem and by elimination the answer choices... good luck :luck: !!

AAMC 8 had the same vibe as the exam last August. Also, my BS score on AAMC 8 = my BS score on the real exam.

Sorry 🙁

It seemed liek the PS was also a lot of reading comp. Some answers were directly from the passage....

exactly the same for me. i toook 8 on saturday. i found that section most similar to my test last august, and i scored exactly the same (9 on both 🙁)

i honestly think many of those Qs were related to understanding the passage and interpreting the data presented in a relatively short period of time, rather than depending on outside knowledge. if you're making your mistakes on those ones, then just keep working on more passages. that's what i'm going to do. that's just my $0.02.

I thought that the test 8 bio section was bad news! I only got one question right in the passage about the lizards. I felt that there was little molecular and microbiology on Test 8, and much more random questions.
Is this is reflective of the actual April test, I am in trouble.

if it helps, the section i had last august had probably 3 passages on molecular bio and microbiology. i don't remember much about random questions, but i do recall there were only 3 orgo passages.

ONLY 3 Organic passages? 3 is good enogh for me. I believe half or a majority of the forms last August had only ONE.
