The Chronic Pain Epidemic: What's to be done?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The chronic pain 'epidemic' in America is very much like hysteria epidemic in 19th century Paris. Fred Wolfe and Dan Clauw are the modern counterparts to Charcot & Freud. But unlike 19th century Paris now there are a coterie of drug companies, academic pain departments, and disability attorneys with a vested interest in keeping the fake epidemic alive. To his credit Wolfe, unlike Charcot, recognized his error and apologized for his part. We are still waiting for Clauw and academic pain medicine's apology. We might hear it from Clauw, but not the pain tribe. Invisible diseases crave attention.

Vaughan Rees' body language in this video is priceless. Notice how he leans forward and talks around the nut job pharma shill to his left:)

Maybe we're not managing chronic pain well, as a modern society, but the title of the lecture makes it sound as if there's an increased prevalence of chronic pain.
