I'm seriously eating **** as far as this app process is goin' and every time I post a reply I see the clapping smily guy, and I'm thinkin' "What are you so happy about?!"

No disrespect to all of you smoking your application processes. This is just me venting.

You are so funny! :D Seriously - I've never used it but sorry to hear that it peeves you so much.

Yeah, I don't like it either. There's something about arms sprouting from a head that doesn't sit well with me.

 <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />

With that level of sympathy, I can tell you're gonna make a great surgeon Gboy. JK :)

SwampMan, great use of graemlins!!! :D

Triangulation, check your spelling in the thread title. :p

I wish I could claim that creativity, but I saw someone else do it with another graemlin. Whoever you are, remember the old saying...Emulation is the greatest flattery (or some BS like that ;) ).

SMW, Did you understand what I was referring to? I think you did, and that to me is sufficient, but to humor your fastidious nature......

Who came up w/that lame spelling of the word 'gremlin' anyway? (Hopefully, not an administrator of this site or I bid you all adieu.)

A post so good it deserved to be read twice? :D

Just kidding. Just remember that once of these days you're going to spell something wrong. It's going to happen. And oh the fun I will have with that. <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" /> <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" /> <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" />

Hold on Brandonite. I once again claim that misspelling a misspelled word is not misspelling at all. I submit that my spelling record is as clean as SMW's.

Thank-you, thank-you!! :D I kept reading "Greem-lin" everytime I saw it!! I agree, the correct spelling is weird, but, hey, that's English for you! ;)

That is why we have another gremlin:

<img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" /> <img src="graemlins/pissy.gif" border="0" alt="[Pissy]" />

I spoke too soon. I was just holding a bit of a grudge from an earlier thread... But now I have my sweet revenge.

Even the spelling police accuse an innocent now and then! And I was there to see it!

Mwahahahaha! <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" /> <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" />

So, have we decided what the correct spelling of "gremlin" is? Just so I can avoid future grammatical faux pas... :D

According to the Merriam-Webster 10th Collegiate Dictionnary, the correct spelling is.......(ta-da)
"gremlin." OK, guys, I stand corrected on my correction, but who's going to correct the Insta-Gremlin heading? :D

The Queen of grammar has spoken! Triangulation, I hereby demand that you change the heading!

Don't make me go get Jaimer2.... <img src="graemlins/laughy.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughy]" />

Yeah I think "graemlin" is one of those Old English spellings like "the aether" or whatever, where the 'a' and 'e' get melded into one letter. Know wuddamean?

As for who to contact, probably have to one of the administrator types change it.

We kinda diverged from my original topic, but that's okay.

Actually, I have already notified our august moderator of the error in the "Instant Graemlins (sic)" heading. Just moments ago I sent him the following e-mail:

It has come to my attention that the correct spelling of gremlin is gremlin, not graemlin, as the heading
over the Instant Graemlins (sic) has it! Please
consult Merriam-Webster's 10th Collegiate
Dictionnary for verification.••

I'm sure he'll jump right on it! :D

Hopefully it's been diverting enough to take your mind off your sorrows and those awful clapping gremlins! :p ;)

Where are you, Jaimer! That message header has now been proven incorrect for almost a half hour! Adcoms are no doubt rejecting all of us for being associated with this travesty!

If I don't get into med school, this is going to be your fault!

grr.... :D

Well, barring any explicit descriptions in rejection letters, I suppose the spelling will stand as it is. Someone alluded to the English form, and that's just what this is. Apparently, at least on the internet, the english form is the accepted spelling of gremlin. Kimberli Cox gave me the explanation long ago, if you want to ask her, just shoot her a private message - she did live in Australia for several years and was immersed in the more European culture. :)

I have spoken. ;)

All right, the word has come down from above. There shall be two accepted spellings of gremlin on SDN, but I'm not happy about it!

BTW, why does it say "Hillbilly" beneath your name instead of Senior Member or Administrator?

'Cause of where I'm from, I reckon. ;) Also, I like it that way.

I take it that changing one's member status is one of the god-like abilities given to moderators. Should I build a little shrine to you in my basement, in the hopes that I too one day might be able to change my status? :D

No shrine is necessary, although a generous offering would be 'preciated. ;) Just kidding.

And now that this thread has gotten about as far from pre-allopathic subject matter, I'm gonna move it to the Lounge. :)
