What's your take on her story of the I-was-raped-when-I-was-in-grade-school-that's-why-I'm-like-this defense? It's detailed in the link above.

Her husband appears exasperated on the tv news, and states that he is unsure if that diagnosis, 'bipolar' is correct, though he admits he is no doctor. Would be an interesting clinical interview.

On an unrelated note, my motorcycle has the same hypercharger that her's does above. That's the chrome/red thing on the side of the engine with the grooves and little red circles. It helps boost horsepower and adds aesthetic appeal.

And if I may stretch the provocation even further. Is a 25 year old woman's seducing of a 14 year old boy really abuse? Seems like a 20, 25, 35, or 70 year old boy (or any of us male SDN'ers) would have been just as vulnerable, whereas a 14 year old girl is clearly a vulnerable target when compared with an adult woman. Quite frankly, had that happened to me at 14, I think I would be MORE psychologically sound than I was having to wait another 3 years and ending up with someone a lot less foxy.

What if the older guy was a dashing, dare I say plastic surgeon and your choice was between him and the your daughter's other prospects which included Columbine-prone black coat wearing goths, druggies and the local air conditioner repair man??

She cut a plea deal with probation, thats why she is free. Charges from an incident at a different school were dropped after the 'victim' didn't want to testify (you wonder why a 16 year old doesn't want to testify about getting laid).

So what is the issue here? Boys are lucky, girls are abused? Maybe this is simply the expose of sexual identity. Men want it and women comply. There are a few outliers, but is it an example of human composition? There is an underlying evolutionary theme here also. Males deposit and female receive. Females have an inherent need to protect themselves and there fertility for the most desireable mate. Males are inherently predisposed to spread their seed as far and wide as possible (to increase fitness). We are supporting this natural pathway with the way we feel inside about all of this. So our attitudes are shaped partly by evolution, I think. What do you all think?

I think your analysis is apt. This is why sex has "meaning" to women but not so much (post-ejaculation) to men. So it is unfair for the legal code to punish this woman the same as if the genders were reversed.

We specifically entrust teachers with the care of our children and children must be able to trust that their teacher will lead by example and respect them as individuals. Every time i talk to a teacher about this they adamantly insist that this constitutes abuse regardless of the teacher's gender.

I also don't see how you can immediately make the assumption that boys are never hurt by this behavior. I think it could definitely contribute to long-term problems in relationships. I specifically remember reading about the statement of one 16 year old boy that talked about how his relationships with family and friends became strained, along with problems at school.

The actual case is not a gender issue you are right. Everything you say here is right beside assuming the boys aren't hurt by this. I don't think any of us assume this or deny that as a real problem at all. My own personal insight into this discussion is surrounding the onlookers' take on the situation. In my post I was pointing out the way our society reacts to this. We as a society, through the eyes of evolution, "protect" the female of our species in her careful choosing of a worthy mate in attempt to increase her secure fitness and the fitness of our group as a whole. And on the otherside the opposite for the male, we allow a wide spreading of his genetic materials to help him increase his fitness and therein perpetuating the species as a whole.
We as an evolved species have "gut reactions", so to speak, in response to what we observe. Disgust being one of the core negative emotions is less commonly experienced in the general population when we hear "14 year old boy seduced by his 25 year old attractive female school teacher" (yes attractive plays a part) VS. "14 year old girl seduced by her 25 year old male school teacher" After reading those two sentences what do you notice about your own gut reaction. That's all. Personally, I think its too bad.

I think it has to do with physical power. The authority position arguement will only get you so far. It's all about physical intimidation that gets our reaction. A male-male scenario has the element of male physical domination. Just like that of the male female situations. So that's it. Consent holds no water in these cases either, look at that other teacher student couple that stayed together and had kids while she was in prison.
As far as morality and ethics are concerned it's all wrong regardless of consent. I do not believe a 14 year has any business engaging in sexual activity with any aged person, especially same sex. 👎
They need a whole lot more limbic frontal control before they start messing around with these most powerful feelings and abilities.
Outrage again is a reaction that come from within (evolution)
