my stats:
2.8 cum GPA (from University of Pennsylvania...not sure if that really makes a difference anymore :( )
28R MCAT (B10, P9, V9)
Working full time at Penn as a research specialist, taking post bac courses in upper level bio courses (and doing much better than i did while at undergrad)
Emergency room volunteer
Shadowed a DO for 150 hours for a whole summer
Participated in a weeklong medical mission trip in mexico
Spent a month in India at a rehabilitation center for children and worked with women with sexually transmitted diseases
Several ECs from college and presently

Do I have any ray of hope that I might even be considered for an interview?? I know I can sell myself if I got an interview....its getting to that stage that scares the bejeezus out of me

Just wondering if anyone can please tell me what they think my chances are.

my starts are 26O MCAT, 3.5 GPA, 3.4 Science GPA. I've done a lot of research and published a couple of papers and I've also volunteered in the ER. But I've never shadowed a DO before (i think this may hurt me), but I've shadowed a MD before. Do you know which schools I may have a chance in??

Thanks! :)

I also plan on shadowing a DO in the future (I have shadowed an MD for many, many hours....the same MD I have been doing research with for 4 years), but I was also curious as to how osteopathic schools feel about an applicant who has shadowed MDs but not DOs.

Since I'm from NY, Is there any chance for me to get into a DO school in California? I would really like to attend either Touro-California or Western University of Health Science.

Some schools require you to have a letter of rec from a DO. I was in a similar situation but I just called up a DO and shadowed him for a day and he wrote me a letter. Good Luck :luck:

OH thank you guys....i think im in love with sdn...its so resourceful!!
