In the 2017 match there were 2,671 AOA residency slots, after excluding TRI positions.
2017 Summary by Program Type
According to the ACGME Data Resource Book Page 80 there were 31,355 residents entering ACGME "pipeline" residency slots in 2017. Pipeline excludes preliminary and transitional residency slots.

To summarize there were a total of 29,904 entering medical students in 2018. In 2017 there were 34,026 residents tallied by ACGME and AOA. I suspect that there are a few hundred residency slots that have been double counted because of the residency "merger". We won't really have an accurate single count for another couple of years. Furthermore, in spite of the federal funding freeze on residency slots, they continue to grow because a resident is cheaper than an attending or a PA. On the other hand some AOA residency slots won't survive the merger.

Finally, there is always attrition in medical school. The attrition number that gets thrown around is 5%. That would leave 28,410 students looking for a pipeline slot in 2022.
