I've gotten myself into a predicament, and I'm not sure what I should do.
I work full time in a research lab (40, sometimes more, hours a week).
I've taken all the classes needed for medical school admission, and I'm going to retake the MCAT in April 2006.
I decided to take 6 graduate hours this semester. The classes are Biotechnology and Biochem.
I think that I bit off more than I can chew... and I don't really have the time for both classes.
Please help me decide which is the lesser of two evils...
Should I take a W on my transcript and drop Biochem right now, or
Should I suffer through biochem and probably end up with a low B at best?

I have two W's on my transcript already. One in a freshman yr. math class (I didn't understand at the time that it went on my transcript), and one from when I dropped physics because I was working full time and taking organic and physics. I dropped physics after the 2nd lecture because I realized I had taken on too much, but it still went on my transcript as a W.

I'm not failing biochem, and I don't want medical school admissions to think that. I just had an increased workload at work, and I can't handle 6 graduate hours right now and do well in both classes.

Thanks for your help in advance. I'm type A personality, and this is really stressing me out!!!

I think a C would be better than a W in your situation.

Thanks for being honest

Hi

I would not take the risk. I would rather keep up my GPA than risk lowering it with a B or a C.

You can always explain Ws during interviews. A low GPA will keep you away from some schools cut-off = no chance to explain.

Cut down on the research lab hours. Part-time vs. full-time is just as effective on a resume.
