That actually is pretty funny. One of life's great debates, I'd say.

I highly recommend this weblog I stumbled across a few months ago: "The Fake Doctor"

Ah Yes, Medical School
Join me as I half-ass my way through medical school, encountering all sorts of freaks (patients, classmates, myself, etc.) along the way

is this the guy who sent in as his personal statement, that ridiculous PS about how he worked in africa, amongst a myriad of obviously, but humorously contrived details?

To my knowledge, I don't think he sent in a personal statement like that. He did, however, make a post about how to write a good personal statement, in which he wrote a myriad of obviously, but humorously contrived details.

When Panda Beat surfaces in the pre-allo forums, it's good times all around... his "personal statement" was probably the funniest things I've ever seen

hey...there is nothing wrong w/ asking which backpacks are best for med school...once you get in and before you start, what else might you ask on SDN?

Thats why alot of med students stay in the pre-allo forums. Despite the fact that they have already passed this stage its too dead everywhere else. Now the Allo Class threads are pretty hot usually.

Hey don't knock the bookbag discussion! :D
I'm JUST starting the app process now and would be MORE than happy to be in their position talking backpacks vs Mary-Kate bags (yikes!). At least they got love from some schools already and are on the road to the MD Promised Land!

Yeah, well, they're about 27 pages of

"When did you get it?"
"I didn't get it yet."
"It'll come soon."
"Yeah I did, just now! What about you?"
"Me?"
"Yeah"
"Oh, like seven days ago"
"wow!"

I saw one for LECOM Bradenton where people introduced themselves and gave a paragraph about themselves. THAT was a good one.
