Last year there was a good amount of movement at case...I know a lot of people who got off the waitlist. But this year could be different b/c of the new curriculum, first years doing a better job at educating and recruiting interviewees, etc. They could take more people than ever off the waitlist, or it could be fewer people than normal (we've never had to have a waitlist for 2nd look before this year). Best of luck!
 
Has anyone tried to find out their ranking on the alternate list? I know some schools are iffy about giving this information out. I'll go wherever I get in, but I would like to have some idea of my chances instead of finding out less than a month before school starts.
 
Does anyone recall filling out Financial Aid paperwork during their interview?

I was going through my checklist, and the Case website says we are to have submitted the "CWRU School of Medicine Application for Financial Aid" but I don't recall doing so and it's not posted on the Financial Aid website for CWRU....

I got my rejection letter today in the mail. Really glad I held out hope since the end of November. Damn you Case.
 
mutt, i actually called about that in March - you can't fill out the institutional forms until you're accepted, and the deadline will not apply to waitlists

...goodluck to anyone waiting on Case (one less person to worry about)!!!

I see. What do you mean by a WL for 2nd look? Does that mean there were more people this year than usual who wanted to attend 2nd look?
 
dude1344 - yes...there's a limit (based on budget and logistics) to how many people can come to 2nd look. This year there were more people who wanted to come than there were spots, thus there was a waiting list. Even more interestingly, case didn't pay for travel expenses this year as opposed to previous years... No idea though how it'll play out in terms of numbers who decide to matriculate (and then, numbers that get pulled of the WL).
 
On a pessimistic note, I noticed that the Case SOM Class of 2011 group on Facebook now has 53 members... that means there are at least 53 spots that are for sure getting taken. Let's just hope we're all towards the top of the alternate list :)

Sorry to hear that. The waiting is tough. I can feel your pain. Hang in there though! Its a nasty process but try to not let it get to you.

Sounds like there are also a lot of people that want to go.
Translation: Waitlist movement might be very tight.

Thanks. It's hard to not take it personally at this point. I told myself at the beginning of all this if I could get to the interview stage then I would be fine, but that has proven to be completely false. Maybe I'm a social leper and never knew it... until now. Thanks Case, thanks.
 
I e-mailed Christian earlier today to ask about the list. He was unable to tell me how many people are on it because not everyone has responded yet. He also said the list isn't ranked and when a spot opens up they just go through the files of the applicants on the list

a couple of them are current students, so its not quite 53. i hope this helps, if just a little bit.

Hopefully they just rifle through the pile of applications and try and pick the most handsome gentleman. If so, I should be in great shape. If they use any kind of legitimate criteria though, I'm probably in trouble.

I know what you mean, dude. I told myself the same exact thing. Just get to an interview and they'll see what I'm all about. So, yeah, it is hard to not take it personally when you go to the trouble of buying a ticket and taking the time to go to the school and give them the best you've got. But, that takes a lot and you did it. Life is tough but when it gets even tougher you've got to be a son of a b**** and fight back.

I'll be withdrawing from Case within the next few days as well. Awesome school with some great programs, but I just got rejected for a merit scholarship, and I have some other programs that are a better fit for me. Best of luck to all of you!
 
A 38 and 3.97 wasn't enough for a merit scholarship? Ouch.

Heh, no, I'm not really surprised. There are some pretty amazing people at Case. [sigh] If only numbers were all it took.
 
May 15th means nothing to Case. May 1st does. So by that logic (5 business days) we should hear back a week from from today. Hopefully we'll hear on friday though, or even tomorrow...

I withdrew from Case this morning. It is a great school and it was a hard decision for me. But I am going to Cali. Good luck to you all. The wait list should start to move.
