Wow. You guys must all be morning people. I think I took mine in the afternoon so I could sleep in and be fresh. Call the computer testing center and ask for a seat away from the door. Usually they'll honor your request. There'll be a lot of traffic during the 4 hours so take advantage of a comfortable station. Good luck!

I will be taking the subway to the testing center so traffic isn't a problem. I just figured I would be antsy all day and it wouldn't feel as if that day is devoted to the test if I took it at 4:30. . .It seemed a little casual 🙂

Hopefully, I will be able to fall asleep the night before so I can wake up, have a good, strong cup of coffee and be alert for my exam!

How do you know if you are ready for the DAT? Is it when you know all the answers to the pratice tests? My test date is coming up and I still doubt about myself about the test materials. I got 18 and 19 on my practice tests (topscore).

I know it might be a silly question,but I hope you guys could share your experiences for coming DAT takers. Anything would be greatly appreciated!!!
 
this is one of the things i worried about for people taking the DAT when it converted from the paper form to the computerized version. What I tell my students is to just set a date...maybe like 3 months or so away and study your butt off. It is really hard to say when you are completely "ready" for an exam like the DAT so you just have to focus on one day and just say I'm taking it then no matter what. There's always gonna be jitters and feelings of not knowing enough but unless you're a human text book, you're gonna get questions wrong...everyone does!...so don't worry about it!!! 🙂 ...don't let the test intimidate you....GOOD LUCK!
 
The plan for now is to take it 7/9, but we'll see. I don't know for sure if I'm going to apply this year or not, don't have all my sh* together. If I don't feel I'm ready then, I think I'll just put it off for a bit.
 
How is the score of 18 on PAT( kaplan and topscore cd's) translate for the real test? Is it bad or good? I am getting worry cause' my score stays the same 18....Please advise me on this. Thanks.

Ok, one more full day before my DAT. I am a nervous wreck. Topscore has become my enemy. I cannot wait till Wednesday afternoon when this is all over. I don't know how some of you can study this stuff for months and months. I have just been doing it for about a month and it has already driven me crazy. Good luck to everyone else that is taking it soon because I am taking a vacation for a couple of days after mine.

I am soooOo happy for you that you are almost there. You mentioned that you have only been studying for the DAT for a month. Do you think that is a enough preparation? Do you mind me asking you your stats? GPA / Science GPA? Extracurriculars etc.? How many schools are you applying to?

I feel pretty prepared. I really don't think more time would help me. I can't study long for things. I think I have ADD but the most I have ever studied for anything else in my life is a day so I feel like I have put in a bunch of time. Right now my stats are 3.42 overall at GA Tech, science I haven't calculated yet but it should be around the same. I have a lot of extracurriculars - I play lacrosse for the school, president of the microbiology student assocaiation, memeber of tribeta and AMSA since we don't have a predental club, on some committees in my sorority, and I have a lot of volunteer experience with organizations around Atlanta. I am applying to Medical College of GA, Medical University of South Carolina, Marquette, Temple, and University of Kentucky. Hopefully I will get in somewhere. I know a lot of people are a lot more prepared for the DAT than I am but if I would have studied for 6 months I would not be a very happy person right now - I owuld be soooo grumpy 🙂

I now have 2.5 days until my DAT, and I just got finished bombing a TopScore test! Nothing like that to make me feel crummy.

There were lots of taxonomy type questions that I didn't know, which resulted in my Bio score being a 19. Hopefully I can pull that up (way up!) before Friday.

Well, I'm now officially done studying for the DAT. I just finished my final TopScore exam, and am fairly satisfied with the results. I was able to pull my score up all around. I scored:

Bio - 22
Chem - 18
OChem - 23
Reading -22
Math - 18
PAT -21
Academic Avg - 21

Hopefully my hard work will pay off! Now I'm going to sit back and relax... speaking of which, where is GTChick?!? I'm anxious to know how she did!

Good luck to the DAT people. I would suggest taking a later time if you can and make sure to bring a snack for the break. The test is only 4.5 hours but because of the questions loading and waiting to get into the computers you may be there for close to 6 hours like me. Good luck and don't stress too much...it's only a test

Yikes extractor, 6 hours? That must have been painful to sit while the comp was loading the questions. When I took it a couple of weeks ago, I also noticed the comp stalling a few times for a few seconds but not to that extent.

Hey everyone. I'm finally back. The test wasn't too bad. I got a 19/19. Less than what I expected but there was a lot of stuff on there that I hadn't studied. I took th etest at 8:30 and was out shortly after 12. I guess the wait depends on your center but mine wait was non existent. Good luck to everyone taking theirs soon! I'm proof that a couple weeks of studying can get you decent scores.

congrats on your scores. which part of the test did you think was the hardest. What kind of stuff on the exam that you think you did review before your test. I've been studying for over three months now,and am still feel that am not ready for the test.

Don't worry about it. 3 months should be plenty of time. I did not feel ready at all for mine. If I could have studied more stuff I think it would have been biology and looked over my o chem notes. Go to the my DAT is over thread to see what I wrote about my test. When are you taking yours?

I'll be taking my dat at the beginning of august. I think I will be ready by then. With my low gpa some of the schools told me that I need to score very high on the dat to have a good shot. I pretty much eat, sleep and dream dat about 12 hours or more a day. I know am a little bit going over board, but I hope it pays off. Congrats on your scores, and I know you will take a little vacation from studies for a while now.
 
I was doing DAT stuff constantly before my etst too. It was sad but I took my Kaplan book to work and put it under the register so when it was dead in the store I could study. I am sure you will do fine. I'm going to be away for July so good luck in August if you take your DAT before I get back to a computer 🙂
