Hola compadres.

I am bored out of my freakin' mind, sitting at work, constantly checking my emails, calling my roommates to check the mail for SOME WORD from the schools I've applied to. I figured I'd start a thread to vent about the waiting process... who knows, maybe all this ranting will make the process go by faster somehow.

Anyways, I've interviewed at 3 schools so far, with three more scheduled within the next month. One school won't send anything until December (merry christmas... guess i'll be chuggin pepto (as well as egg nog 👍 ) to quell the ulcers i'll no doubt have by then), but the other two are supposed to send something within the next two weeks (before Halloween-- now THATs scary!)

Anyways, I figured that I'd start some sort of club... you know, kind of like an AA support group if you will, for those of us with chronic anxiety about checking the mailbox, email, unknown phone numbers, etc...

I'm with ya. I have resorted to making sculptures out of Twizzlers to quell my fears. Once I buy another pack of Pull-n'-Peels, I may be able to finish my newest creation: an acceptance letter made entirely out of licorice.

Dude, I don't really get how you're "waiting." I mean obviously you are, but you have interviews lined up and you know when the responses are coming. I've only gotten one interview invite, went on the interview last week, and I don't get the response until February 1st at midnight. I haven't heard from any other school. Now that's waiting! I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who applied and haven't gotten any interviews or only got a few. I wish I had a 2 week turnaround time.

settle down there. we're all waiting, to some extent or another. i'm not quite sure why you seem so hostile, this threads not about me, its about all of us and our gd sentance to purgatory... i realize a 2 week turnaround time is pretty short, but its no less agonizing to walk up to the mailbox everyday (in some ways its more, b/c you are expecting it to come)...
anyways, good luck...

btw, when was your ut-houston interview, i was recently down there.

Waiting is unpleasant no matter how long you're doing it for or how many schools you're waiting on...

The grass is always greener, I guess...I don't mean to undermine your feelings; they are thoroughly justifed. My UT Houston interview was 10/7. I really liked that school. How did you like it?

I was actually there a few days after your interview for another school(tulane temporarily@bcm)... but that area (ie tmc) is amazing. I've never seen anything like it before. I mean, its almost bigger than the capital of my home state and its JUST for medical institutions. 75k people working there? thats just crazy. what an amazing place that would be for medschool...
some of the people in my hotel were there for their uthouston interview... they all seemed really pumped on the school.

1)i can't believe i've waited so long for even this waiting thread to come along--but overall waiting sux horribly--thanks for the thread

2)the only other time i can imagine the wait to be as horrible/anxious with possibility of a lot of happiness or incredible sadness is waiting for your child's delivery day...

random thoughts, i realize, but who's really sane at a time like this?!? 😛

Yeah - the grass is greener, at least you have ONE interview - some of us don't have one yet. I like your grass.

Yep, I can relate alright. I had a great interview at an out of state school, but I won't hear back until mid-Dec. or so. But, what I'm worried about is that I'm on hold at one of my state schools, and haven't even heard from the other yet. This blows. lol

I hate waiting, for even 5 minutes, for anything. So yes, waiting to hear from schools (specifically right now Pitt) is very actively on my mind. I know that I'm chilling on some VERY green grass, and I'm super grateful for it. But that said, I'm still joining this support group 🙂. Happy waiting of all kinds, everyone; don't pace yourselves to death!

Last cycle I had to wait until mid-August to have the pleasure of knowing I wasn't taken from the waitlist! 😛 Okay, actually I'm ready to puke too, this cycle. C'mon UI and SLU, what the hell's the friggin' hold-up!? 🙂 I'm so awesome, and I'd actually attend either one of you unlike these other insane SDNers going to HMS.

not as bad as some, but still sucks. email/mail/status check. argh can't wait to be over with it. it's even worse cuz i'm unemployed. nobody wants to hire a one year commitment.

The website says they start announcing Oct. 15, but that was a load of the stinky stuff. I called awhile back, and the admissions lady said 4-6 weeks after your interview. This would be the start of my fourth week post-interview there, so if I don't hear back in 3 more weeks I guess I'll call them.

Yeah, totally I hope we both get in, otherwise if you get in but not me, I can't be your friend anymore. Ha ha, j/k 😛 But I honestly don't know, I think my interview was mediocre at best, I said some stupid things. After last cycle's failure I don't know what to believe in anymore. We'll see. I did better at the UI interview, but they take only so many out-of-staters. 🙁 If I get into either one I'm dying my hair red or something. (I'm typically a well-behaved, nerdy Chinese boy, my parents would flip!)

Radio, I'm right there with ya! Only one interview so far, all other apps are "under review.. be patient and we'll let you know by email" and have been that same exact status since early September (like 9/3). AIGH!
