Hey guys! Now that the new test dates are out, I figured I'd start a thread for all the January 2018 test-takers prepping for (and most definitely, slaying) this beast! 😉 This is a retake for me, but I'm aiming high! Who else is taking it in January?

I'm sure that sharing insights and support on SDN will make this journey all the more worth it. I have a feeling 2018 is off to a great start! Good luck everyone and may the odds be ever in our favor.

My main concern is the CARS section and when I took my practice exams the psych/soc part was so much easier compared to the actual exam so I'm kinda worried about that to

Lol, the bragging can be difficult. Just set your own standards for yourself. Maybe you'll surprise yourself and get a fantastic score.

i like to set my expectations very low so when I get the disappointing score, I don't feel nearly as bad, and when I do well, I'm ecstatic. Lol. But hey, u right, if I do well, I mean I suppose i'll poke my head in here

Yup, as long as I get above a 500 I'll be okay. Although higher than that wouldn't be bad.

I know most people have not gotten their actual mcat scores yet, but anyone here care to share their Kaplan FL scores vs AAMC FL? I have heard that Kaplan re-scaled their FLs so i just wanted to see how accurate the scoring is now from people who have recently prepped/tested compared to what i have seen on older threads. Thanks!

Feel u. Hoping the CARS gods will bless us
They'd better. Given that each passage

I only did 2 Kaplan FLs because I felt they weren't representative of the actual exam, but from what I saw with my own scores and from what I heard from others, you generally score at least a few points better on the AAMC FLs in comparison to your Kaplan ones. Don't be discouraged if your Kaplan scores are lower than you'd like!

So take this with a grain of salt because there was a lot of hard prep between the Kaplan FL and AAMC FL, and I think that's true no matter what threads you will be looking at. People take AAMC FL's closer to their test date, so those will always be more accurate and higher than any Kaplan tests due to more studying having taken place. Having said that, my test scores are:

Kaplan Diagnostic:
498 (122/128/121/127)
Kaplan Test #1:
501 (125/125/126/125)
AAMC #1:
510 (128/127/127/128)
AAMC #2:
515 (130/129/128/128)
AAMC #3:
520 (129/130/130/131)

For reference in comparison to other 3rd party tests, the highest score I EVER got on a 3rd party test was the NS FL (510 (128/126/127/129)).

Me too, it just hit me.
How are people keeping it off their minds? I'm almost positive i got below a 500 and it's excruciating to think about.
Focus on the present. There isn't anything you can do to change your score. Worrying about it will only cause you more stress. You've put in the work and now you have to trust the process. I personally like to get outside and take a walk or hang out with friends. Keeping yourself busy is the most important thing. Stay positive!!

Why couldn't all the January scores be released on Friday?!! 6 more days of hell for us January 25th test takers 🙁
What is even the reason for the month of waiting for our scores? Since it's computerized, you'd think it would be possible for us to see them immediately.

They can't give you a scaled score until they have the data from other tests. But it should be possible to give a % correct for each section. Although it'd probably cause examinees even more anxiety.

Whichever reason they provide to justify their delay, it just doesn't make sense. As someone said, the DAT score is available as soon as the test takers submit their test. The very least they could do is show us our raw score. I understand that the raw score can't be immediately translated into a scaled score, but at least we'll get an idea of how we performed.
