Didn't see one up yet so thought I'd make one.

Good luck to all and I'm willing to answer questions that anyone has about the application procedure or anything else [ like a good show to watch etc :) ]

any advice? I met with Dr. Jeffers and he told me I should be getting in this year, how do you think I should take that information? Also what do you think I can do to make me look like a better applicant. Thanks!

By this year, I assume you mean the 2019 Class. When did you have your interview? The problem from what I have been hearing is that the waitlist has been moving really slowly. But do stay strong, it's never over until its over.

What are your extras like? Hows your GPA? DAT scores? Shadowing?

No the class of 2020, I had a private meeting with him because I am re applying, My G.P.A at my university is a 3.3 overall and my science is a 3.55, adea calculated it as a 3.1 and a 3.0, I failed math my freshman year at O.C.C I am scheduled to retake and plan to ace it which he knows. This is the only class that really messed up my science G.P.A everything else was A's and B's..

my first time taking the DAT I got a 19 AA, 22 TS, 24 Bio, 22 Orgo, 19 Gen chem, 18 PAT, 18 RC, and a 14 QR :/ since last year I have shadowed another dentist for 150 hours, and have been volunteering at a free dental clinic. the previous year I had 350 hours form a periodontist and he is a professor at U of D dental school. He wrote me a letter as well. I have done fairly well in my classes this past year and got a 3.8 in my last semester, I am president of an organization called Rebuilding Together Detroit that fundraises money to renovate homes and build ramps for low income and disabled homeowners in the city of Detroit , I am president and founder of the Global Dental Brigade at WSU where we trip to third world countries and facilitate dental treatment with specialists. I am VP of an org called Smiles against cancer as well, I have over 500 hours of shadowing and volunteering combined. I am scheduled to retake my DAT and he told me to improve my Genchem and RC score only and he would fuse all my best scores, but I still plan on improving everything especially math because have been seeing very promising test scores. I have a very very good personal statement, and 4 letters of rec, 3 from science teachers. We had a good conversation and he told me he liked what he saw in me, I am working hard still probably more than before the meeting, and I just really want to get in. What do you think?

If I could rate your ECs on the GPA scale it would be 4.0.

Haha thank you. I'm just freaking out I have put a lot of time and effort into this and I have wanted to be a dentist since I was a younger.

Your EC's are stellar.

Regarding your GPA, Was that a mistake done by ADDSAS? a 3.3 and 3.55 should be ok, especially if you've already spoken to Dr. Jeffers. Just get done with that Math course and ace it.

Your sticking point is your DAT. Whilst I've heard QR isn't weighted alot, 14 isn't something that can be overlooked. I would suggest re-taking the DAT and aim for a 20+. Work on your QR and RC and you'll def get a 21 AA.

Other than that, I think you should def get an interview this time around. You're a re-applicant, you've spoken to Dr. Jeffers, (assuming) you improved your DAT score.

Your GPA's a lot lower than their avg, so you will need to do really well on the DAT. You being from Michigan resident will give you better chance than someone from oos, so there's that.

Yea he told me that he doesn't care about math at all. He said he's going to keep all my best scores from my first test (24 in bio 22 orgo) and fuse it with the ones i get on the second test which I am taking in 8 days. My app was in early, I met with him and we had a great conversation literally 8 days before the cycle opened. So I hope it all works out! I am getting pretty high scores on my practice tests and expect to improve on every section. Thanks for the input though man!

Hey. Has anyone received a confirmation letter from UDM? I sent in my application fee but I haven't received a confirmation letter.

I called them today, you're good don't worry. They're very behind because their admissions office had the whole last week off for the holiday. They didn't send me any confirmation either but when I called they said they have it on file they just didn't have a chance to get to it, so I'm assuming you're in the same situation. I mailed out my stuff June 8th.

UDM basically accepts every WSU student that scores a 19AA+ as long as you don't have any sections below a 17 from what I've noticed in previous years. He takes the highest scores for all reapplications, so just get over a 17 in QR and you're accepted, trust me lol. They know WSU sciences are hard af and that WSU has one of the best science programs for undergrad. I'm rooting for you bro! May we both be in class of 2020, you got this!

EDIT: I just seen your new DAT breakdown, lmfao you're basically guaranteed acceptance. Congratulations bro!

Same. I sent everything in on June 8th. I was going to call them today but after reading that you've already called them, I'll just wait. Thanks for replying!

Anyone get a response to the follow-up email you are supposed to send? The downside of using a money order is that you can't tell when it was delivered/cashed.

wait what follow up email are we supposed to send? the email they sent said this....
"The office will contact you via email if you are missing any required documents. Please refrain from calling or emailing at this time to inquire about documents received."

Sounds like they need to update the website.

Just got word from Mercy, they got my application and under review :D

Just got an email from UDM about receiving apps! Good luck everyone :)

did the email say you were under review? i received another email from them the "UDM application acknowledgement letter" again even though i received it two weeks ago and submitted my supp already

i think that means like throughout the cycle if we need to follow-up aka ask questions about our app to email them
Yeah, I thought the same thing that if you had any questions or concerns to email them.

So who makes the final decision on the application, and who is involved in the decision of the application? is it the ladies working in the office ( Carol Betsy and Danielle) or is it just Dr. Jeffers.. Thanks!

It shows on my portal lmfao...

Best of luck to everyone! This is my top choice school; visited twice, did some drilling in their SIM lab, and sat through one of their pharmacology lectures  a bunch of my friends go there. Great school!

This is only necessary for Canadian applicants. I would assume they throw out everything from last cycle. I'd send a new one just to be safe so nothing ends up delayed.

Do they inform you once they've received your supplemental check and 2x2 picture?

They never e-mailed me with the confirmation, but it also says in the "Application Acknowledgment Letter": "The office will contact you via email if you are missing any required documents. Please refrain from calling or emailing at this time to inquire about documents received. "

So now I'm in a pickle

See if they cashed your check. Maybe they did but just didn't update your ADEA status. If not, call and double check with them this week since it's been a while. I sent mine out on July 23rd by regular mail from Canada and my status was updated to "under review" this past Friday, so processing time shouldn't be that long unless you're sending yours from much farther.

I emailed danielle in the beginning of july (a month after i sent my supp. app) and she said she received it, but my status still says "waiting add. info" which kind of freaks me out so I didn't know if they were just not updating AADSAS or what.
