The Ohio State to stay open

No doubt. I would have hated to see the place fall under the control of another entity. Even though I went to another Big Ten school....

I feel bad for that lab director who is taking the fall for the mistakes of other people. But that's part of the problem of being a lab director. The first time my lab got inspected the inspecting pathologist kept bringing up the fact that I was responsible for this and that, and if something went wrong I would get thrown under the bus. He kept mentioning it and I wondered if it had happened to him or something but I just let it go. Hopefully they kept her on and didn't can her.

There was an article in the Columbus Dispatch that said the lab director would remain on staff. This is a good thing, as she is an excellent manager and pathologist.

Weak job security is unfortunately one of the things you have to calculate into what you're willing to be paid for certain jobs. On the one hand the buck stops at the top, but on the other no-one can or should be expected to micromanage every decision of every underling at every moment of every day. Mistakes, misunderstandings, etc. are inevitable parts of life, and need not mean a neglectful failure.
