I guess it depends on your class. The link below is the edition that everyone at my school uses for 1st and 2nd year. I actually read that text for our general pathology course but there is a pocket edition that a lot of other people found helpful. The actual text is has a lot of information but it's really good. The pocket version is a condensed version of the text. Not if it will be helpful for second year stuff.

Goljan's old (1998) STARS textbook is the best I have seen, the "Costanzo" of Pathology. Its out of print and hard to find. And when you do find it people sell it for ridiculous $$$. Its amazingly well written and concise (about 500 pages), integrates things together like his audio does. Good luck looking for it, I luckily found one for $65 on amazon this spring.

I have heard good things about this book. It seems like it is the "holy grail" that you can't get your hands on. I wish they would re-publish it.

How does the review compare to the original?

is it the same as his lecture notes?

The Pathology review is like Rapid Review, ie it is in bullet point format. I havent really looked at it that much.

It is different from his lecture notes because his lecture notes are in outline format. This is a Textbook, ie it is written in paragraph format with diagrams explaining important concepts. Like anyother textbook you would use. I think all the information is in Rapid Review and Goljan's notes. The beauty of this book is that it explains all of the concepts in paragaph format.

A student at my school last year actually unbound the book and had it photocopied for anyone in the class that wanted it.
